Ingredients for Rasam Recipe

  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon sized tamarind approx tightly packed seedless tamarind
  • 1/4 cup Warm or hot water for soaking tamarind
  • 1/4 cup Chopped tomatoes or Medium sized tomato
  • 1 cup Water
  • 5-6 Curry leaves
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1-1.50 Dry red chilies broken and deseeded
  • 1 tablespoon Chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Oil gingelly oil or any neutral oil
  • As required Salt as required
  • 1.50 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Black peppercorns
