  • As required Soup
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 2 pound chicken breasts
  • 1 onion, diced large
  • 1/4 carrots, sliced to in half rings 4
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1.50 teaspoon Salt
  • 5 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 6 tablespoon All purpose flour
  • 6 cup Chicken Broth
  • 1.83 cup Heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1.50 frozen peas f
  • 4 tablespoon fresh minced parsley
  • As required Dumplings
  • 2 cup All purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

Directions: Easy Chicken & Dumplings Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a 6-quart dutch oven, cook chicken over medium-high heat until brown on both sides.

  • STEP 2.Once chicken pieces are browned, remove and set aside.

  • STEP 3.Add carrot and onion and cook until just tender, about 3 minutes.

  • STEP 4.Add garlic and stir for another minute.

  • STEP 5.Reduce heat to medium-low and add butter and flour, stirring constantly for 3 minutes to avoid lumps.

  • STEP 6.Add chicken and any accumulated juices back to dutch oven and stir to coat in roux/vegetable mix.

  • STEP 7.Add chicken broth, cream, thyme, and bay leaves and bring to a simmer.

  • STEP 8.Once soup is at a simmer, add frozen peas and cover.

  • STEP 9.In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and cream.

  • STEP 10.Stir until mixture comes together into a single mass of dough.

  • STEP 11.Using a large spoon or ice cream scoop, form dough into small round balls about 1 inch in diameter (this dough mixture should yield 14-16 dumplings).

  • STEP 12.Place dough balls into simmering soup (making sure they don’t touch), and cover.

  • STEP 13.Let soup simmer for 15 minutes or until dumplings are cooked (they should pass the toothpick test).

  • STEP 14.Ladle into bowl, giving 1-2 dumplings per serving.
