Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat and sauté onions until golden brown.
  • STEP 2.Add garlic, ginger, and berbere spice blend to the pot and cook for a few minutes.
  • STEP 3.Add chicken pieces to the pot and cook until browned on all sides.
  • STEP 4.Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  • STEP 5.Cover the pot and let the stew simmer for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, until the chicken is tender.
  • STEP 6.Remove the lid and let the stew cook for an additional 10-15 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  • STEP 7.Serve the Doro Wat with injera or rice.
  • STEP 8.Garnish with chopped cilantro or parsley, if desired.
