Directions: Lauki Halwa Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Peel and grate the bottle gourd, and squeeze out the excess water.
  • STEP 2.In a pan, heat ghee and add the grated bottle gourd. Cook until it becomes soft and the moisture evaporates.
  • STEP 3.Add milk and cook on low heat until it thickens. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to squeeze out the excess water from the grated bottle gourd to prevent the halwa from becoming watery.

  • For a richer flavor, you can add a tablespoon of khoya (milk solids) to the halwa.
  • You can also add saffron strands for a beautiful color and aroma.

Storage and Serving

  • Lauki Halwa can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
  • To serve, you can reheat the halwa in a microwave or on the stovetop.
  • Garnish with additional nuts before serving for an extra crunch.
