A bengali recipe of pointed gourd with milk. Doodh potol is this delightful Bengali niramish potol (pointed gourd or parwal) recipe is simple, quick, and tastes unbelievably good for the amount of time and effort it takes. It is a summer speciality as potol are in season. Doodh potol is made with ‘kochi’ potol or baby potol that do not yet have hard seeds. The vegetable soaks up the curry and becomes soft and juicy.

Ingredients for Doodh Potol Recipe

  • 500 gram Small, kochi potol
  • 20 gram Vegetable Oil
  • 2 piece Cardamom
  • 2 piece Cloves
  • 1 piece Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 200 gram Hot milk
  • 6 gram Salt
  • 8 gram Sugar
  • 5 gram Ghee

Directions: Doodh Potol Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Peel the potol and wash properly. Fry the potol until brown. Heat a pan again and add cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, cumin powder, turmeric powder and fried potol. Mix well.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Now add milk and curd. Cook until the potol gets soft and the milk get creamy. Add ghee and serve with rice.
