  • 1/2 cup Yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste

  • 1 tablespoon Mustard Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Bay Leaves

  • 1/2 Onion, Ground Into A Paste
  • 1/2 tablespoon Tomato Puree
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Marinate the fish with yogurt, turmeric, red chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, and salt.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish until golden brown. Set aside.
  • STEP 3.In the same pan, add cumin seeds, bay leaves, and whole spices. Fry until fragrant.
  • STEP 4.Add onion paste, ginger-garlic paste, and cook until golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Add tomato puree, turmeric, red chili powder, and cook until the oil separates.
  • STEP 6.Add whisked yogurt, sugar, and salt. Cook for a few minutes.
  • STEP 7.Add water and bring the gravy to a boil. Add the fried fish and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  • STEP 8.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.

  • Use fresh Katla fish for the best taste and texture.
  • Marinate the fish for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate.
