  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the rice and lentils separately for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker, heat oil and sauté onions, ginger, and garlic until golden brown.
  • STEP 3.Add the soaked lentils, vegetables, spices, and water to the pressure cooker.
  • STEP 4.Cook for 3-4 whistles or until the lentils and vegetables are tender.
  • STEP 5.In a separate pan, cook the soaked rice until fluffy and separate.
  • STEP 6.Serve the Dhansak Rice hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves and accompanied by raita or pickle.

  • You can use a mix of lentils like toor dal, masoor dal, and moong dal for added flavor and texture.
