Dhal Moju Recipe

Masoor dal is cooked in coconut milk with a lot of spices which gives this dish a balanced creamy and spicy taste. A unique dhal and green gram pickle recipe which is an excellent rice puller. Its a great accompaniment with all types of Indian bread, steamed rice, coconut and Goddambha rotis. Also a twist to the traditional brinjal moju this recipe is easy to make and very delicious to consume.

Ingredients for Dhal Moju Recipe

  • 1.50 cup Masoor Dhal
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 cup Coconut milk
  • As required Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon roasted chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon roasted curry powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chili Flakes
  • 6-7 Cloves Garlic
  • 5-6 No.s Green Chili
  • 1 No.s Onion
  • As required A Few Pandan Leaves
  • 2-3 stick Cinnamon
  • 3-4 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • As required A Few Red dried chilies

Directions: Dhal Moju Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 in a pan take dal, turmeric powder, fenugreek seeds, roasted curry powder, green chilli, garlic, onion, 2 pandan leaves and to this add a cup of water.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2 mix everything well and cook this on a medium flame with a lid on till the dal becomes soft.

step 3

  • STEP 3.3 keep on stirring it every 2-3 minutes and add coconut milk once the dal turns soft.

step 4

  • STEP 4.4 add salt and mix it well. When dal comes to boil turn off the flame.

step 5

  • STEP 5.5 for tempering heat some oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cinnamon, garlic, onion, green chilli, pandan leaves, dried chilli, chilli flakes and roast it till onions turn golden brown.

step 6

  • STEP 6.6 once done add the cooked dal to the pan and give it a nice stir.
