Ingredients for Dal Tadka Recipe

  • 0.13 cup Chana dal
  • 0.13 cup Dal
  • 0.13 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 0.13 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/4 Pieces Onion
  • 1/4 Pieces Tomato
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Coriander powder
  • 0.13 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/4 g reen Chilli
  • 0.13 cup Dal water
  • 0.13 tsp Kasoori methi
  • 0.13 Cups For tadka
  • 1/2 tbsp Oil
  • 0.13 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic
  • 1/2 Pieces Red whole chilli
  • 0.13 tsp Ginger
  • 0.13 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Coriander leaves

Directions: Dal Tadka Recipe

  • STEP 1.In a bowl soak chana dal for 2 hours..
  • STEP 2.Similarly in another bowl soak toor.
  • STEP 3.After soaking, put both in a pressure cooker adding salt, turmeric powder and water
  • STEP 4.Pressure cook the dals for about 5-8 minutes (3-4 whistles) until both are cooked completely.
  • STEP 5.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
  • STEP 6.When they crackle add ginger garlic paste and mix well.
  • STEP 7.Add onion and cook until it appears golden pink.
  • STEP 8.Now add tomatoes, mix and cook a little more.
  • STEP 9.Then add salt, coriander powder, garam masala, and green chilli to it and cook for a minute.
  • STEP 10.Add dal water which persisted after boiling the dal and kasoori methi along with it.
  • STEP 11.Pour the boiled dal in this onion tomato gravy and let it boil on sim
  • STEP 12.Add more water if required
  • STEP 13.In a pan heat oil and add cumin seeds. Let it crackle.
  • STEP 14.Add garlic, red whole chillis, and ginger. Cook for few seconds.
  • STEP 15.Put red chilli powder and coriander leaves. Mix well.
  • STEP 16.Pour the tadka over the cooked dal
  • STEP 17.Punjabi Dal Tadka is ready. Serve it hot with roti, naan or jeera rice.
