  • 0.13 cup Split Yellow Lentils
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 Bay Leaf
  • 0.63 Le Spices
  • 1/4 Onion, Chopped
  • 1/4 tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/2 Green Chilies, Slit
  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • as needed Coriander Leaves For Garnish

Directions: Dal Khichadi Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak rice and lentils for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Heat ghee in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds, bay leaf, and whole spices.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions, ginger-garlic paste, and green chilies. Saute until onions turn golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add soaked rice, lentils, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • STEP 5.Add water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. Let the pressure release naturally.
  • STEP 6.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with yogurt or pickle.

Cooking Tips

  • You can add vegetables like peas, carrots, or potatoes to make it more nutritious.
  • For a healthier version, you can use brown rice instead of white rice.
  • Adjust the spice level according to your preference by adding more or less red chili powder.
