  • 1/2 cup Urad Dal
  • 0.13 cup Moong Dal
  • 1/2 inch Ginger, Grated
  • 1 Green Chilies, Finely Chopped
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1 cup Yogurt
  • 1/2 tablespoon Sugar

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Soak urad dal and moong dal for a few hours, then grind them into a smooth batter.
  • STEP 2.Add ginger, green chilies, salt, and spices to the batter and mix well.
  • STEP 3.Heat oil in a deep pan and drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Remove the vadas from the oil and soak them in water for a few minutes.
  • STEP 5.Squeeze out the excess water from the vadas and transfer them to a serving dish.
  • STEP 6.Whisk yogurt with salt and sugar, and pour it over the vadas.
  • STEP 7.Garnish with tamarind chutney, mint chutney, cumin powder, and red chili powder.
  • STEP 8.Serve chilled as a snack or appetizer.

  • Make sure the batter is smooth and of dropping consistency.
