Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a bowl, whisk together yogurt, besan (gram flour), and water until smooth.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and fenugreek seeds. Let them splutter.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped tomatoes, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
  • STEP 4.Pour the yogurt mixture into the pan and stir well. Cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • STEP 5.In a separate pan, heat ghee and add dried red chilies, curry leaves, and asafoetida. Pour this tempering over the kadi.
  • STEP 6.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.

  • Make sure to whisk the yogurt and besan mixture well to avoid lumps.
