Daab Chingri Recipe

Recipe By Slurrp

If the 'Bangals' (people who migrated from East Bengal/Bangladesh to West Bengal) are known for their obsession with Hilsa, the Ghotis (natives of West Bengal) are notorious for the love for chingri or prawns. Daab Chingri is one of the most exquisite Chingri preparations out there, as it is cooked with tender coconut and served inside a green coconut too. That's not all, the Bengali prawn curry, for its exotic taste, has also become a sensation across the globe.  What makes the dish so unqiue are the ingredients used. Boasting of goodness of large, juicy prawns, malai or tender green coconut, butter or ghee, mustard oil, garlic, ginger and chopped green chillies, this prawn curry is truly all things exotic and worth the hype.  The authentic Bengali dish is prepared on special ocassions like Pohela Boishakh or Bengali New Year.
