How to Make Crispy Breaded Tofu Steaks Recipe

step 1

STEP 01

cut 400 gm tofu into 5 m long, ½ inch thick slices.

arrange on a plate and sprinkle a little salt over the slices.

in a bowl crack 2 eggs, add ½ tsp ground cumin, ½ tsp ground white pepper, salt to taste.

whisk well to combine all the ingredients.

place the 4 tsp corn flour in a plate and dip each slice of tofu in the corn flour.

next dip the slice in the beaten egg.

arrange 80 gm bread crumbs in a wide bowl and coat the slice well with the breadcrumbs.

arrange the coated slices on a plate.

heat ½ litre oil in a deep pan on medium.

when the oil is hot add the tofu slices one at a time and deep fry on both sides till golden.

flip over to ensure that the slices cook evenly. Do not overcrowd the pan.

when the slices are evenly golden, take them out of the pan and drain off any excess oil on a kitchen paper towel.

arrange the slices on a plate and sprinkle with ½ tsp cumin powder and ½ tsp white pepper powder.
