Ingredients for Creamy Lavender Flan Recipe

  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 1 tablespoon Dried Lavender Flowers
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Directions: Creamy Lavender Flan Recipe

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and prepare a water bath by placing a baking dish filled with hot water in the oven.
  • STEP 2.In a saucepan, heat the milk and dried lavender flowers over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Remove from heat and let it steep for 10 minutes.
  • STEP 3.In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined. Slowly pour in the lavender-infused milk while whisking continuously.
  • STEP 4.Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the lavender flowers. Divide the mixture into individual ramekins or a large baking dish.
  • STEP 5.Place the ramekins or baking dish in the water bath in the oven and bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  • STEP 6.Remove from the oven and let the flan cool to room temperature. Then, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow it to fully set.
  • STEP 7.To serve, run a knife around the edges of the ramekins or baking dish and invert onto a serving plate. The creamy lavender flan is now ready to be enjoyed!

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to strain the mixture to remove any lumps or bits of lavender flowers for a smooth texture.
  • For a stronger lavender flavor, you can increase the amount of dried lavender flowers used.
  • To prevent the top of the flan from browning too much, you can cover it with aluminum foil halfway through the baking process.

Storage and Serving

  • Store the creamy lavender flan in the refrigerator, covered with plastic wrap or in an airtight container, for up to 3 days.
  • Serve the flan chilled, optionally garnished with fresh lavender sprigs or a dusting of powdered sugar.
