Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, yogurt, ginger paste, green chili paste, salt, and sugar.
  • STEP 2.Add water gradually and whisk to make a smooth batter.
  • STEP 3.Add sweet corn kernels and mix well.
  • STEP 4.Grease a steamer plate or a round cake pan with oil.
  • STEP 5.Pour the batter into the greased plate and spread it evenly.
  • STEP 6.Steam the dhokla for about 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • STEP 7.Remove from the steamer and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • STEP 8.Cut the dhokla into square or diamond-shaped pieces.
  • STEP 9.For tempering, heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies.
  • STEP 10.Once the seeds start spluttering, pour the tempering over the dhokla pieces.
  • STEP 11.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with green chutney or tamarind chutney.

  • Make sure the batter is smooth and lump-free for a perfect texture.
  • You can add grated coconut or chopped vegetables to the batter for added flavor and texture.
