This Mexican sweet bread is a great example of Mexico’s love for bread. The bread gets its name from conch shell as the top of the bread sees white topping that represent the seashell. A staple part of Mexican food culture, this bread is mostly sold sweet. This perfect snack sees it’s roots in time when the Spanish first colonized Mexico. During colonization, the Spanish just didn’t bring their art, culture and language but also their food habits. It was then when wheat was first introduced. Rolled in a crumble cookie dough, today Conchas can be seen in many flavours from cinnamon to vanilla to more. This delicious sweet treat is seen being sold by most bakeries in Mexico City. Mexican pan dulce is a simple mix of corn flour and wheat flour and interesting in place of butter lard is used. Today conchas can be found all across Central, South, and North America.
