Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash the colocasia leaves and remove the stems. Pat them dry and keep aside.
  • STEP 2.Prepare the gram flour mixture by combining gram flour, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt in a bowl.
  • STEP 3.Spread a layer of the gram flour mixture on each colocasia leaf and roll it tightly.
  • STEP 4.Steam the rolled colocasia leaves for about 20-25 minutes until they are cooked and firm.
  • STEP 5.In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add curry leaves and asafoetida.
  • STEP 6.Place the steamed colocasia rolls in the pan and cook for a few minutes until they are lightly browned.
  • STEP 7.Serve the colocasia leaves curry hot as a snack or as a side dish with rice or roti.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to remove the stems from the colocasia leaves as they can be tough and fibrous.
  • You can adjust the spice level according to your preference by adding more or less red chili powder.
