Ingredients for Cochinita Pibil Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Orange juice
  • 1/2 cup Lime Juice
  • 1-3 ounce package achiote paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole cumin
  • 2 whole clove
  • 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorn
  • 1/4 piece Cinnamon Stick
  • 10 garlic cloves
  • 1/4 onion chopped
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
  • As required For the pork
  • 4 pound pork shoulder chopped
  • 9 feet banana leaves
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • As required To Serve
  • 1 dozen corn tortillas for tacos
  • As required Pickled Red Onions

Directions: Cochinita Pibil Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Add all the marinade ingredients in a blender to blend

step 2

  • STEP 2.In a container add the chopped pork and the marinade over the pork

step 3

  • STEP 3.Coat the pork and refrigerate for 4hrs

step 4

  • STEP 4.Heat banana leaves and cook the leaves

step 5

  • STEP 5.Place the pork the in the banana leaves and cover

step 6

  • STEP 6.Heat water in the pot and cook them for 8hours on low heat

step 7

  • STEP 7.Discard the leaves

step 8

  • STEP 8.Serve as tacos or corn tortillas and red onions
