Inarguably one of the most beloved desserts across the globe. Lemon tart is a delicate pastry that is ideal for those who are not big fans of dense or overtly sweet desserts. A good lemon tart has just the right amount of citrus flavour to balance things up. The vibrant dessert hails from France, where it is also known as tarte au citron.  In this dessert, a lusciously-whipped lemon curd is placed on buttery, shortbread crusts that are baked in shape of a thin dish with slightly lifted edges. Because it looks a lot like pie, in some parts of the world it is also known as lemon pie. There are two components to focus on here, the lemon filling, and the tart that needs to have just the right combination of butter and flour for the right texture.

Ingredients for Classic Lemon Tart Recipe

  • 200 gram Plain flour
  • 100 gram Powdered sugar
  • As required Vanilla essence
  • 5 Egg
  • 100 gram Frozen butter
  • As required Baking paper
  • 1 Orange
  • 3 Lime
  • 100 gram Sugar
  • 200 gram Heavy cream

Steps To Prepare

  • STEP 1.Take the butter out of the fridge and let it rest in room temperature for a while so that it becomes easier to grate.

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Grate the frozen butter.
  • STEP 2.Mix with plain flour and powdered sugar with a fork
  • STEP 1.Add vanilla essence to the egg. Mix the batter well.
  • STEP 2.Mix well until you have a nice, firm dough. Cover with rolling plastic and flatten it until it is round.
  • STEP 3.Take a tart tin. Place the dough with roller and dust with flour, use your fingers to adjust your dough around the edges of the tin.
  • STEP 4.Cut the excess. Bake at 170 degree for 25 minutes.
  • STEP 5.Cool and shave off the excess pastry
  • STEP 6.Grate the skins of lemons and orange. Add 2 whole eggs and 2 egg yolks
  • STEP 7.Add sugar and salt. Add the orange and lime zest and mix well.
  • STEP 8.Add the lime juice and orange juice, heavy cream and mix the batter well and add it to the pastry.
  • STEP 9.Bake in a preheated oven (160 degree) for 30 minutes and refrigerate before cutting.

Storage And Serving Method

  • STEP 1.Use a knife to cut a piece. Have as it, or pair with a scoop of vanilla ice cream
