Classic Apple Crumble Recipe: Easy Baked Dessert With Cinnamon Apples Recipe

Recipe By Slurrp Editorial
Apple crumble is the kind of nostalgic, seasonal, and indulgent dessert that will make your kitchen smell irresistible even before the dessert reaches your dinner table. Soft, cinnamon-y apples are cosily tucked beneath a crunchy, buttery topping, and the contrast between the jammy fruit and the buttery, golden crumble makes it an easy favourite for a cosy family dessert. This classic version keeps the flavours simple, letting the apples, warm spices and crisp crumble do all the culinary heavy lifting. Serve it warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for the complete old-fashioned sweet treat.

Directions: Classic Apple Crumble Recipe: Easy Baked Dessert With Cinnamon Apples

  • STEP 1.Preheat your oven to 180°C. Then lightly grease a medium-sized baking dish with butter.
  • STEP 2.Time to make the apple filling. Place your sliced apples in a large bowl. Then add brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, vanilla, and plain flour. Now toss properly until the apples are evenly coated, and then stir in a little water.
  • STEP 3.In another bowl, combine your flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Now tip in the cold butter and rub it into the dry ingredients with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Do not overwork to mix it, as a few larger buttery pieces will help create a more textured topping.
  • STEP 4.Then spread the seasoned apples evenly across the prepared baking dish and scatter the crumble mixture generously over the top, making sure the apples are fully covered without pressing the topping down.
  • STEP 5.Now place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35–45 minutes, or until the apples are bubbling around the edges and the crumble is crisp and golden.
  • STEP 6.Finally, remove from the oven and allow the crumble to rest for about 10 minutes. This gives the apple juices a chance to thicken slightly while keeping the topping crisp.
  • STEP 7.Spoon into bowls and serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of homemade custard.
