  • As required ¾ cup powdered jaggery
  • As required ¼ cup chopped Almonds
  • 0.33 tbsp chopped cashews
  • 0.33 tbsp grated dry coconut
  • 0.17 tsp cardamom powder
  • 0.33 tbsp poppy seeds
  • As required Optional
  • As required ¼ cup milk
  • As required or as needed
  • As required oil or ghee
  • As required For frying

Directions: Churma Ladoo: A Classic Rajasthani Sweet Made With Wheat Flour And Ghee Recipe

  • STEP 1.In a large bowl, mix whole wheat flour and sooji. Now, add 3 tbsp ghee and rub it into the flour until the mixture gets coarse crumbs. Now, slowly add milk and make a firm dough out of it.
  • STEP 2.Divide the dough into small portions and then shape them into thick, slightly flattened discs.
  • STEP 3.In a deep pan, heat ghee or oil over a low to medium flame. Fry the prepared discs slowly until they turn golden brown and are thoroughly cooked through. Avoid high flame, as the outside can turn brown even before the centre gets cooked through.
  • STEP 4.Remove the fried pieces and let them cool down thoroughly. Break these into small pieces and grind them in a mixer until you get a coarse, crumbly texture. Do not grind it into a fine powder.
  • STEP 5.In a pan, heat 2 tbsp ghee and lightly fry the chopped almonds, cashews and grated dry coconut. Now, add the prepared churma to this and mix well over low flame for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  • STEP 6.Add the powdered jaggery, cardamom powder and poppy seeds to this, if using. Mix thoroughly until the jaggery blends evenly with the churma. Switch off the flame and let the mixture cool down a bit.
  • STEP 7.Grease your palms lightly with ghee. While the mixture is still warm, take small portions of it and press them firmly between your palms to make smooth, round ladoos.
