  • 1/2 Onion, Chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Urad Dal
  • as needed A Few Curry Leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Hing
  • 1 tablespoon Oil

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Peel and chop the chow-chow, tomatoes, and onions.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves.
  • STEP 3.Add the chopped vegetables, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the vegetables are soft.
  • STEP 4.Allow the mixture to cool and then blend it into a smooth paste.
  • STEP 5.Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal, and hing. Pour the blended chutney and cook for a few minutes.
  • STEP 6.Transfer the chutney to a jar and let it cool before storing it in the refrigerator.
  • STEP 7.Serve the chow-chow chutney with dosas, idlis, or rice dishes.

Cooking Tips

  • You can adjust the spice level by adding more or less red chili powder.
