Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the chironji seeds in water for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker, heat oil and add cumin seeds, cloves, and cinnamon.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions and saut茅 until golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute.
  • STEP 5.Add soaked chironji seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  • STEP 6.Add water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
  • STEP 7.Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and mash the dal lightly.
  • STEP 8.Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds, dried red chilies, and asafoetida.
  • STEP 9.Pour this tempering over the dal and mix well.
  • STEP 10.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
