Chirer bhaja misti puli pithe or chirer ros puli is another variety of puli pitha that Bengalis prepare at home during  Makar Sankranti. The process of making chirer pithe is very similar to the process of making puli pithe from rice flour. Chire is the Bengali name of flattened rice or bitten rice which is also known as Poha or chiwda in India. This flattened rice is very popular in India as breakfasts and snacks.

Ingredients for Chirer Bhaja Misti puli ( Flattened Rice Dumplings For Sankranti) Recipe

  • 0-16.67 grams flattened rice (fine )
  • 0.17 cup Flour
  • 0.33 nos pinch salt
  • As required For Making coconut stuffing:-
  • 0.33 nos Coconut grated
  • 1/4 cup Date palm jaggery
  • 0-0.33 tablespoons condensed milk
  • As required For Making jaggery syrup:-
  • 0.17 cup Date palm jaggery
  • 0.33 cup Water
  • As required For frying puli
  • 0.33 cup White oil/ghee

Directions: Chirer Bhaja Misti Puli ( Flattened Rice Dumplings For Sankranti) Recipe

  • STEP 1.First Making coconut jaggery stuffing,
  • STEP 2.mix grated coconut and date palm jaggery in a kadai and put it in low flame.
  • STEP 3.Stir well for five minutes,add condensed milk & mixed it well.
  • STEP 4.When the stuffing is leaving the sides of the kadai, take out from flame. The stuffing is now ready.
  • STEP 5.After that take 1 cup of chire(flattened rice)and clean with running water. Now remove the water and mix it well with flour and salt. Cover it for 10-15 minutes.
  • STEP 6.Now, make small balls from the dough and spread each ball in your plum so that it looks like a small bowl. Stuff the coconut mixture and fold it in a way so that it looks like a half circle. Seal the edges properly. Your pulis are now ready.
  • STEP 7.Now take a large vessel and pour date palm jaggery and water in oven to make a thin jaggery syrup.
  • STEP 8.When the syrup is ready,
  • STEP 9.heat oil or ghee in a pan and deep fry the puli till golden.
  • STEP 10.Then immerse all pulis into the syrup for 10-12 minutes.
  • STEP 11.Take it out from the syrup and serve it.
  • STEP 12.Poush Sankranti special Chirer Misti bhaja puli pithe is now ready to serve.
