Mouthwatering deep-fried potato tossed in red chilli, ginger garlic and black pepper and garnished with spring onion and coriander. Potatoes have been our staple food for years during childhood time because they are easy to keep and more important extremely yummy when well cooked. This crispy sautéed potato is always on our dinner table around the year. Besides, it is a perfect side dish can be prepared while you are cooking other dishes.

Ingredients for Chinese Style Sauteed Potato Recipe

  • 1/2 No.s Large potatoes, cut into inch cubes 2
  • 6-8 No.s Large onion, cut into wedges 1/2
  • 2 No.s Spring onions roughly sliced
  • 2 No.s Red chilli peppers roughly sliced
  • 1 piece Ginger finely chopped
  • 3 Garlic finely chopped cloves
  • 3 Coriander roughly sliced stems
  • 2 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper coarsely ground
  • 1 liter Oil for deep frying
  • 50 milliliter Water

Directions: Chinese Style Sauteed Potato Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.-1)in a wok heat 1 ltr of oil to deep fry the potato.

step 2

  • STEP 2.-2)when the oil is hot add 2 large potatoes cut into ½ inch cubes.

step 3

  • STEP 3.-3)deep fry on medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes till the potatoes are golden brown on the outside and have cooked soft on the inside.

step 4

  • STEP 4.-4)use a slotted spoon or a sieve to remove the potato from the hot oil and drain off the excess oil. Keep them aside.

step 5

  • STEP 5.-5)pour most of the oil into a container and retain only 1 tbsp oil in the wok.

step 6

  • STEP 6.-6)heat the oil and add 3mm ginger finely chopped, 3 cloves of finely chopped garlic, 2 roughly sliced red chilli peppers, 1 large onion halved and cut into 6 to 8 wedges and 1 tsp coarsely ground black peppercorn.

  • STEP 7.-7)stir fry for a few seconds till fragrant.

step 8

  • STEP 8.-8)at this stage add the fried potatoes and 2 tbsp soy sauce and mix together.

  • STEP 9.-9)add salt to taste and 50 ml water and stir fry for 2 minutes.

step 10

  • STEP 10.-10)lastly add 2 roughly sliced spring onion and 3 stems roughly sliced coriander.

  • STEP 11.-11)mix together and serve hot.
