Ingredients for Chinese Steamed Egg Custard With Shrimp Recipe

  • 2.67-3.33 No.s Shrimp cleaned and deveined
  • 0.19 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.17 teaspoon Pepper powder
  • 1 No.s Eggs
  • 0.33 cup Water
  • 0.67 teaspoon Water
  • 0.33 teaspoon Soy sauce
  • As required Few drops of sesame oil
  • As required Chopped spring onions as garnish

Directions: Chinese Steamed Egg Custard With Shrimp Recipe

  • STEP 1.In a small bowl add 8 to 10 cleaned and deveined shrimp. Add1/4 tsp salt and ½ tsp pepper powder. Mix and leave to marinate.
  • STEP 2.For the egg custard, crack 3 eggs into a mixing bowl and whisk them. Add 1 cup of water ⅓ tsp salt. Whisk together well.
  • STEP 3.Pass this whisked egg through a sieve into another bowl to ensure that the texture is smooth.
  • STEP 4.Place the bowl on a steamer stand over boiling water.
  • STEP 5.Cover and steam on high heat for 6 minutes.
  • STEP 6.After six minutes, uncover the steamer and place the pieces of marinated shrimp one at a time on top of the steamed egg. Do this carefully as the egg is still very soft.
  • STEP 7.Cover the steamer and continue to steam for another 2 minutes or till the shrimp turns pink.
  • STEP 8.Open the steamer and take the bowl out and keep aside.
  • STEP 9.For the seasoning, add 2 tsp water, 1 tsp soy sauce and a few drops of sesame oil in a bowland mix together.
  • STEP 10. Sprinkle diced spring onion on top of the egg custard and shrimps.
  • STEP 11. Pour the seasoning on top.
  • STEP 12. Egg custard with shrimp is ready.
