How to Make Chinese Steamed Egg Custard With Shrimp Recipe
STEP 01
In a small bowl add 8 to 10 cleaned and deveined shrimp. Add1/4 tsp salt and ½ tsp pepper powder. Mix and leave to marinate.
STEP 02
For the egg custard, crack 3 eggs into a mixing bowl and whisk them. Add 1 cup of water ⅓ tsp salt. Whisk together well.
STEP 03
Pass this whisked egg through a sieve into another bowl to ensure that the texture is smooth.
STEP 04
Place the bowl on a steamer stand over boiling water.
STEP 05
Cover and steam on high heat for 6 minutes.
STEP 06
After six minutes, uncover the steamer and place the pieces of marinated shrimp one at a time on top of the steamed egg. Do this carefully as the egg is still very soft.
STEP 07
Cover the steamer and continue to steam for another 2 minutes or till the shrimp turns pink.
STEP 08
Open the steamer and take the bowl out and keep aside.
STEP 09
For the seasoning, add 2 tsp water, 1 tsp soy sauce and a few drops of sesame oil in a bowland mix together.
STEP 10
Sprinkle diced spring onion on top of the egg custard and shrimps.
STEP 11
Pour the seasoning on top.
STEP 12
Egg custard with shrimp is ready.
