Ingredients for Chinese Soup With Lotus Root And Pork Ribs Recipe

  • 1 pound Pork short ribs
  • 8 ounce Lotus root
  • 8 ounce Sweet corn
  • 4-5 Ginger slices
  • 1 stalk Spring onion
  • 2.50 tablespoon Chinese cooking wine
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon White Pepper
  • 6 Red dates
  • 1 tablespoon Goji berry

Directions: Chinese Soup With Lotus Root And Pork Ribs Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 wash and cut 1 lb pork short ribs into 1½ inches individual pieces.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2 peel and wash 8 oz or 2 sweet corn and cut in halves.

step 3

  • STEP 3.3 wash 8 oz lotus root, trim the ends and peel the root. Cut them into 2/3 inch thick round slices.

step 4

  • STEP 4.1 to blanch the ribs in order to remove the blood crumb, add 1 lb chopped short ribs in a pot, add 2 ½ tbsp chinese cooking wine and 1 ½ ltr water. Cover it and bring it to a boil.

  • STEP 5.2 then take the ribs out of the boiling water and discard the water.

step 6

  • STEP 6.3 place the ribs in a clean pot, add 8 oz of sweet corn on the cob pieces, 8 oz sliced lotus root. Adjust them so that all the ingredients fit in the pot.

  • STEP 7.4 then add 4 large slices of ginger, 6 pieces of red date, 1 tbsp goji berry or raisins, ½ tsp white or black pepper corn and 1 stalk of spring onion.

  • STEP 8.5 pour in 6 cups of water. All the contents of the pot should be covered by the water.

  • STEP 9.6 cover and bring to a boil. When it is boiling add 1tsp salt. Stir well and check the taste.

  • STEP 10.7 cover the pot and turn the heat to low.

step 11

  • STEP 11.8 simmer the soup for 1 ½ hour.

step 12

  • STEP 12.9 before serving, remove the ginger slices and the soggy spring onion from the pot.

step 13

  • STEP 13.10 soup with lotus root and pork ribs is ready.
