Crunchy deep fried strip of chicken dusted in a tasty cumin ,coriander and chili spice mix.This crispy fried chicken is made with a Xinjiang spice mixture popular across Beijing and Northern China. It’s a delicious combination of cumin and chili that compliments meats amazingly well.

Ingredients for Chinese Crispy Fried Cumin Chicken Recipe

  • 150 gram Chicken Breast
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin powder
  • 2 tablespoon Sesame Seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander seeds powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 3 tablespoon Cornflour
  • As required Salt
  • 1 Oil ltr for deep frying

Directions: Chinese Crispy Fried Cumin Chicken Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 in a frying pan toast 2 tbsp of sesame seeds for 1 ½ minute.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2 transfer toa mortar and pestle and grind till coarse.

step 3

  • STEP 3.3 to this add 1 tbsp cumin powder, 1 tbsp coriander powder, 1 tsp chili powder ( optional ) and salt to taste. Mix well together.

  • STEP 4.4 cut 150 gm chicken breast into thin strips.

step 5

  • STEP 5.5 place this in a large mixing bowl and add 3 tbsp cornflour or 6 tbsp breadcrumbs. Toss well together to ensure that chicken is evenly coated.

  • STEP 6.6 in a wok heat 1 ltr of oil till smoking hot, add the chicken strips and deep fry for 8 minutes.

step 7

  • STEP 7.7 using a slotted spoon remove and drain the chicken.

  • STEP 8.8 place them on a kitchen paper towel to drain off the excess oil.

step 9

  • STEP 9.9 sprinkle the chicken with the prepared spice mix and serve hot.
