Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a bowl, mix minced chicken, onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and spices to make the momo filling.
  • STEP 2.Take a momo wrapper and place a spoonful of the filling in the center. Fold the wrapper in half and seal the edges by pleating or using a fork.
  • STEP 3.Steam the momos for about 10-12 minutes until they are cooked through and the wrappers are translucent.
  • STEP 4.Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan and sauté onions, ginger, and garlic until golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Add tomatoes, spices, and water to the pan and simmer for 10-15 minutes to make the gravy.
  • STEP 6.Once the momos are cooked, serve them hot with the tomato gravy on top.
  • STEP 7.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve with a side of spicy sauce or chutney.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to finely mince the chicken for a smooth and even texture in the momo filling.
  • If you don't have momo wrappers, you can use wonton wrappers as a substitute.
  • To prevent the momos from sticking to the steamer, line it with cabbage leaves or parchment paper.
  • Adjust the spices in the gravy according to your taste preferences.
  • You can also add vegetables like carrots or cabbage to the momo filling for added flavor and texture.

Storage and Serving

  • Leftover momos can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat the momos by steaming them again or by pan-frying them for a crispy texture.
  • Serve the chicken momos gravy as a main course dish with rice or noodles, or as an appetizer for a party or gathering.
