  • 1/4 cup Rice, Soaked
  • 0.13 cup Urad Dal, Soaked
  • 62.50 gram Chicken, Cut Into Pieces
  • 0.06 cup Yogurt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/4 Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1/4 Tomato, Finely Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • as needed A Few Curry Leaves
  • As required Salt To Taste

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a blender, grind soaked rice and urad dal to make a smooth batter.
  • STEP 2.Marinate chicken pieces with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, and red chili powder.
  • STEP 3.In a pan, heat oil and sauté onions, tomatoes, and spices.
  • STEP 4.Add the marinated chicken and cook until tender.
  • STEP 5.In a steamer, pour the idli batter into greased molds and place the chicken pieces on top.
  • STEP 6.Steam the idlis for about 10-15 minutes until cooked through.
  • STEP 7.Serve the Chicken Idli hot with chutney or sambar.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure the idli batter is fermented well for soft and fluffy idlis.
  • You can add chopped coriander leaves and grated coconut to the idli batter for added flavor.
  • If you don't have a steamer, you can use a pressure cooker with a steamer plate.

Storage and Serving

  • Leftover Chicken Idli can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
