Ingredients for Chekkalu Recipe

  • 2 cup Rice flour
  • 2 tablespoon Moong dal
  • 2 tablespoon Butter/Hot oil
  • 5 Nos Green chillies
  • 2 inch Ginger piece
  • 1 sprig Chopped Curry leaves
  • As required Salt
  • 1/2 liter Oil for deep fry

Directions: Chekkalu Recipe

  • STEP 1.Soak 2 tbsp moong dal for 1 hour.
  • STEP 2.Grind 5 green chilies,2 inch ginger, salt and keep the paste aside
  • STEP 3.In a mixing bowl take 2 cups of rice flour, add soaked moong dal, add prepared green chili paste, add chopped curry leaves, 2 tbsp of butter and salt, combine well.
  • STEP 4.Add warm water and make a soft dough. Prepare small round balls and keep aside.
  • STEP 5.Spread some oil in your palms and press the balls to flatten.
  • STEP 6.Take a pan and add oil to deep fry the prepared chekkalu. Once the oil is hot add the flattened dough one by one in the pan and fry until it is golden brown in colour.
  • STEP 7.Remove the chekkalu and drain access oil. Crispy chekkalu is ready to serve
