  • 1/2 Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 Green Chilies, Slit
  • 1 Tomatoes, Chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Tamarind Pulp
  • as needed Fresh Coriander Leaves For Garnish

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the chana dal for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Pressure cook the dal with water, turmeric powder, and salt until it is soft and cooked.
  • STEP 3.Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and asafoetida.
  • STEP 4.Add chopped onions, ginger-garlic paste, and green chilies to the pan and sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Add chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, coriander powder, and tamarind pulp to the pan and cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  • STEP 6.Add the cooked chana dal to the pan and mix well.
  • STEP 7.Simmer the dal for a few minutes until the flavors are well combined.
  • STEP 8.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
