Simple Vietnamese porridge made from cooked rice in water with stock, fish paste, sugar, shredded chicken, mushrooms, and poultry seasoning. It can also be eaten with a poached egg on the top.

Ingredients for Chao Ga Recipe

  • 2 stalks chopped green onions
  • 1.50 tablespoon chopped ginger
  • 3/4 cup rinsed white jasmine rice
  • 1 pound bone in chicken breast
  • As required Salt
  • 6.50 cup water or 5 cups of water is fine
  • As required Oil

Directions: Chao Ga Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Sliced the green onion stalk and mince the garlic.

step 2

  • STEP 2.In a pressure cooker or rice cooker first, saute green onions and ginger in 1 tbsp oil for 3 minutes until fragrant and golden brown.

step 3

  • STEP 3.Then add the rice, give it a good stir with the aromatics, add the chicken, water, and salt.

step 4

  • STEP 1.Close the lid and cook it for 45mins- 1hr. Remove the chicken and shred it into pieces.

step 6

  • STEP 4.Serve and garnish with green onions, fried shallots, and fish sauce.
