Chana dal vada is a famous south indian snack. It is a crispy deep fried lentil fritter made from chana dal. Coarse paste of soaked chana dal mix with onions, ginger, corriander leaves & spices make this flavourful. U can enjoy it with tea as an evening snack or when guests at ur home. #TD

Ingredients for Chana Dal Vada Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Chana dal
  • As Required One finally chopped onion
  • 1/2 inch inger half inch piece
  • As Required Few curry leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds one
  • 1/2 g Two green chillies
  • handful Chopped corriander
  • to taste salt according
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilly powder one
  • As Required Asafoetida half
  • as required Oil for frying

Directions: Chana Dal Vada Recipe

  • STEP 1.Clean, wash and soak the chana dal in water for four hours.
  • STEP 2.Drain the chana dal very well. There should be no water in the dal.
  • STEP 3.Take two tablespoons soaked dal and keep aside.
  • STEP 4.Add soaked chana dal in a mixer jar along with ginger, green chillies, curry leaves and cumin seeds and blend to a thick coarse paste without using water.
  • STEP 5.Transfer the dal mixture in a bowl.
  • STEP 6.Add salt, red chilly powder, chana dal and asafoetida in it. Mix well.
  • STEP 7.Heat oil in a pan.
  • STEP 8.Divide the mixture in to equal portions & roll each portion into round shape.
  • STEP 9.Press these balls between ur palm.
  • STEP 10.Deep fry the vadas on medium flame, till they turn golden brown in colour.
  • STEP 11.Drain it on absorbent paper.
  • STEP 12.Serve with tomato sauce or green chutney.
