 Chatpati chinese flavour of desi grains. crispy and spicy indo chinese starter recipe prepared with kabuli white chickpeas with chilli sauce and soy sauce. it is an ideal party starter recipe which can also be extended as dry sabzi or side dish to chapathi or roti’s. This recipe is a dry variant and can also be extended to chana chilli gravy masala recipe. like any other indo-chinese recipe, chilli chana is extremely simple to prepare and can be prepared within minutes. having said that there are many variations to this street food recipe and can be prepared with or without gravy.

Ingredients for Chana Chilli Fry Recipe

  • 1 cup Chickpeas
  • 50 gram Cornflour
  • As required Salt
  • As required Edible oil for cooking
  • 3 No.s Green chillies
  • 1 tablespoon Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Chilli sauce
  • 1.50 tablespoon Tomato Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 No.s chopped Capsicum
  • 1 No.s chopped Spring onions

Directions: Chana Chilli Fry Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Take 1 bowl of chickpeas,  soak them overnight and then wash off nicely.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Take the cooker and add these chanas in it with some water and salt. Wait for 4 whistles. Let it cook for about 8 minutes more.

  • STEP 1.Let it cool and take them out in a bowl and add some cornflour and mix nicely and lightly. This is our first coating. Do not use water at all.

  • STEP 1.Transfer the chana in another bowl and now use some water and mix nicely.  add some cornflour and toss them to mix. This is our second coating.

  • STEP 1.Now take a frying pan and some oil, deep fry the ready chanas. Fry for a few minutes and remove

  • STEP 1.For tempering- Take a wok, heat some oil and add some green chillies, some grinded garlics,  some spring onion leaves, some capsicum, salt to taste,  black pepper,  sugar to taste and cook for a minute.

  • STEP 1.Now add some vinegar, lemon juice,  soya sauce,  tomato sauce and chilli sauce.

step 8

  • STEP 1.Now cook this mixture for 2 minutes. Now add some chopped spring onions in it and cook for 5 minutes on high flame. Add water and cornflour if needed .

step 9

  • STEP 1.When the gravy has thick consistency then turn off the stove and then add the chanas in for a few minutes. Serve fresh and hot.
