Champurrado Recipe

A mexican recipe of chocolate and cinnamon. Champurrado is a chocolate-based atole, a warm and thick Mexican beverage, prepared with either masa de maíz (lime-treated corn dough), masa harina (a dried version of this dough), or corn flour (simply very finely ground dried corn, especially local varieties grown for atole); piloncillo; water or milk.

Ingredients for Champurrado Recipe

  • 1 stick Cinnamon
  • 8 cup Water
  • 1 cup masa harina corn flour
  • 1 ounce mexican chocolate tablet 6.5
  • 4 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Sugar

Directions: Champurrado Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Place 6 cups of water in a large pot and add cinnamon sticks.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Bring to boil and simmer for 5 mins.

step 3

  • STEP 1.In a medium bowl add the rest of the water.

step 4

  • STEP 1.Add masa harina and mix well with mixer or blender.

step 5

  • STEP 1.Add the masa to the cinnamon pot.

step 6

  • STEP 1.Add mexican chocolate and mix well for 3 mins.

step 7

  • STEP 1.Add milk and sugar. Mix well.

step 8

  • STEP 1.Cook for 8 mins after it thickens cool it down. Serve.
