Chakli is a deep fried snack made from rice flour, gram flour, wheat flour or a mixture of lentil flours. Chakri is a savoury snack from India. It is a spiral shaped snack with a spiked surface. Chakri is typically made from flours of rice, bengal gram and black gram. It has several variations, depending on the types and proportion of flours used.

Ingredients for Chakli Recipe

  • 2 cup Wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup Rice flour
  • 1 tablespoon Red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon White Sesame Seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander powder
  • 1/4 Ajwain / Carom seeds
  • As required Salt
  • As required Water
  • As required Oil For Frying

  • STEP 1.• in the pot take wheat flour.

  • STEP 2.• add rice flour and mix well.

  • STEP 3.• take the cooker and add water at the bottom. Transfer the flour into

  • STEP 4.Cooker and cover it with a dish.

  • STEP 5.• you can also transfer the pot into a steamer.

  • STEP 6.• cover the pot with clean cloth so that the water in the steamer

  • STEP 7.Won’t enter into the flour.

  • STEP 8.• close the lid and steam on medium heat for about 20 minutes.

  • STEP 9.• take the pot out and loosen the stiff flour.

  • STEP 10.• transfer the flour into a strainer and sieve it.

  • STEP 11.• so that any lumps of flour formed will be broken.

  • STEP 12.• add red chili powder, turmeric powder, white sesame seeds,

  • STEP 14.• mix well and add a little water at a time and knead thick dough.

  • STEP 15.• take the dough and fill the chakli mould.

  • STEP 16.• take wax paper and roll chakali on it.

  • STEP 17.• after rolling out chakali, seal both the ends really good so that it

  • STEP 19.• heat up oil in a pan. The oil should not be too hot.

  • STEP 20.• drop chakali into oil fry for about 5-6 minutes on low to medium

  • STEP 21.Heat.

  • STEP 22.• after frying for about 3-4 minutes from one side flip the chakli

  • STEP 24.• after another 3-4 minutes, when chakali settles at the bottom,

  • STEP 26.• drain excess oil and transfer it into a dish.

  • STEP 28.• you can make 20-22 chakalis from 2 cups of wheat flour.
