A side dish prepared with the vegetarians all favourite ingrediednt, cauliflower. Cauliflower Thoran (Poriyal) is a South Indian Cauliflower Stir Fry With Coconut & Spices. Cauliflower thoran is simple and delicious stir fried cauliflower with coconut and spices, which makes a yummy and easy side dish with rice for lunch or dinner. This dish uses a flavoured combination of coconut and curry leaves which is quintessential to Kerela.

Ingredients for Cauliflower Thoran Recipe

  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 No.s Finely chopped cauliflower
  • 1 No.s Finely Chopped Onion
  • 1 teaspoon Urad dal
  • 2 No.s Dry red chilli
  • As required Curry leaves a few
  • 1/4 cup Grated coconut
  • 3 Chopped garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chilli Powder

Directions: Cauliflower Thoran Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Add into a pan 2 tbsp of oil and ½ tsp of mustard seeds.

step 2

  • STEP 1.When the mustard seeds splutter add in 1 tsp of urad dal, 2 dry chilly and a few curry leaves.

step 3

  • STEP 1.Saute till the dal becomes brown.

step 4

  • STEP 1.Now add 1 finely chopped onion and a pinch of salt to taste. Saute till the onion turns pale brown.

step 5

  • STEP 1.Add ¼ sp turmeric powder and 1 finely chopped cauliflower.

step 6

  • STEP 1.Finally add ¼ cup of grated coconut, 1 tsp chilly powder, 1 tsp cumin powder and 3 chopped garlics.continue to stir cook for another 5 minutes and our dish is ready.
