Carrot Thoran Recipe

Very easy recipe with carrots. Cabbage and Carrot Thoran Recipe is a simple Kerala cuisine preparation commonly done in all houses and served as an accompaniment for rice. Cabbage and carrot are grated finely, mixed with spices, cooked in medium flame without the addition of water and grated coconut is generously added to the thoran. The recipe can be prepared easily in a few minutes and can also be packed as part of lunch. Ingredients for Carrot Thoran Recipe

  • 7 No.s Grated carrot
  • 3.50 tablespoon Grated coconut
  • 3 No.s Shallots
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoon Coconut oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 No.s Chopped green chilli
  • As required Curry leaves
  • 2 No.s Dry red chilly

Directions: Carrot Thoran Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a pan heat coconut oil and add ½ tsp mustard seeds, curry leaves and 2 dry red chillies.

step 2

  • STEP 1.Add grated carrots, ½ tsp turmeric powder, a pinch of salt, 2 chopped green chillies and mix well.

step 3

  • STEP 1.Cook on a low flame for around 5 minutes with a lid.

step 4

  • STEP 1.Add grated coconut and again cook for another 5 minutes on low flame.
