A dish made with fresh callaloo, vegetables and coconut oil. Callaloo is a popular Carribean vegetable dish there are many variants across the Carribean depending on the availability of the vegetables. The main ingredient is a leafy vegetable called callaloo. It is a popular local staple green leaf vegetable cooked with onion, garlic, tomatoes, thyme and scotch bonnet pepper.

Ingredients for Callaloo Recipe

  • 0.33 bunch fresh callaloo
  • 0.17 No.s Onion
  • 1 No.s garlic pods
  • 0.33 No.s small carrot
  • 0.08 No.s green and red bell peppers
  • 1 stalks scallion
  • As required All purpose seasoning
  • As required Walmart brand poultry seasoning
  • As required Celtic salt
  • 0.33 tablespoon unrefined coconut oil

  • STEP 1.1 - soak your callaloo in hot soft water to clean it thoroughly.

step 3

  • STEP 2.2 - rinse callaloo with some fresh water.

step 4

  • STEP 3.3 - chop the callaloo, onions, garlic, carrots, red bell pepper, capsicum, scallion and put everything in a pan.

step 5

  • STEP 4.4 - add spices, lemon juice and coconut oil to it.

step 6

  • STEP 5.5 - give it a nice stir.cover and cook the vegetables and let them cook them in steam.
