Ingredients for Burmese Chilli Paste Recipe

  • 15-20 Green chilies Nos
  • 1/4 cup Dried shrimp
  • 1 tablespoon Shrimp paste
  • 1 Juice of lemon
  • As required Salt
  • 1 pinch Sugar

Directions: Burmese Chilli Paste Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a pan add 15 to 20 washed green chillies. Add water upto the level of the chilies and cook on medium heat till the chillies begin to shrink and get wrinkled and the water evaporates.

  • STEP 1.Grind ¼ cup dried shrimp to a coarse powder and transfer the cooked chillies to a mortar. Add a pinch of salt and pound the chillies to a rough paste using a pestle.

  • STEP 1.To this add 1 tbsp shrimp paste, slowly pound together with the chillies till well combined. Now add the coarse shrimp powder, a little at a time and mix it well. Keep tasting the paste to ensure that the shrimp powder taste does not over power.

  • STEP 1.Add a pinch of sugar and the juice of 1 lemon. Mix it well and your Burmese chilli paste is ready. Serve with rice and vegetables.
