Bua loy is one of the significant dishes in Thailand and is a popular dessert. Thai dessert, Bua Loi (Rice Balls in Coconut Milk). Bua Loi, which literally means “Floating Lotus”, is an irresistible. The mildly sweet Bua Loi is usually served in hot coconut cream with syrup-poached eggs on top.

Ingredients for Bua Loy Recipe

  • As required For Bua Loy
  • As required Dough
  • 1 cup Glutinous rice flour
  • 1/2 cup cooked and mashed taro root, kabocha squash, or other colorful juices such as pandan juice or beet juice
  • 1/4 cup 0.5 water, as needed
  • As required Sweet Coconut Milk
  • 2 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup Water
  • 3/4 cup chopped palm sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 pandan leaf, optional

step 1

  • STEP 1.For the dough combine the sticky rice flour and mashed taro or squash exploitation your fingers till well mixed. Add water and knead till a dough forms. The dough ought to be soft however not sticky. If it becomes sticky, simply add some flour and knead till it does not stick to your fingers.

  • STEP 1.To cook the bua loy take a bowl of cold water along with the pot of boiling water. Drop the bua loy into the boiling water in batches. Leave them for a minute and as they start floating transfer them to the bowl with some chilled water.

  • STEP 1.To assemble drain the bua loy well and add them to the coconut milk. Heat the coconut-bua loy mixture simply till it comes back to a simmer so the bua loy will absorb the flavor of the coconut milk, and switch off the flame and serve.
