It's an easy-making crackled bread from the Portuguese. Broa is a type of corn and rye bread traditionally made in Portugal, Galicia, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, and Brazil. Broa is made from a mixture of cornmeal and rye or wheat flour, and is leavened with yeast rather than baking powder or baking soda. One of the most delicious kind of portuguese bread there is.

Ingredients for Broa Recipe

  • 300 gram corn flour
  • As required Water
  • 100 gram bread flour
  • 100 gram mature sourdough
  • 8 gram Salt
  • 50 gram Rice flour

Directions: Broa Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Take a bowl, add 300 gm of water to it. To this water add 300 gm of corn flour. Mix well and bring it to room temperature.

  • STEP 1.Now add 100 gm bread flour and 100 gm mature sourdough with 8 gm of salt. Mix it all and put this mixture on the kitchen shelf to knead.

  • STEP 2.Knead properly and patiently until it becomes a perfect round ball.

  • STEP 3.Sprinkle some water and rice flour to this dough.

step 5

  • STEP 4.Leave the dough on the shelf for overnight covered with a cloth.

  • STEP 5.Take the dough ready to put in the microwave.

  • STEP 6.Pre-heat the oven to 260 degree celcius.

step 8

  • STEP 7.Put the bread in the oven for 20 minutes. Turn down the oven to 230 degree celcius.

step 9

  • STEP 8.Keep baking until the bread is 99 degree celcius.

step 10

  • STEP 9.Take out and cool it down. Bread is ready to be served.
