Ingredients for Plain Brinji Rice Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Basmati Rice
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1.25 Ves
  • 1/2 inch Cinnamon Stick
  • 1/2 Bay Leaf
  • 1/2 Onion, Thinly Sliced
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 Tomatoes, Chopped
  • 1 Green Chilies, Slit
  • 1 cup Water
  • As required Salt To Taste

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the basmati rice for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add the whole spices.
  • STEP 3.Add onions, ginger-garlic paste, and sauté until golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add tomatoes, green chilies, and cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  • STEP 5.Add the soaked rice, water, salt, and mix well.
  • STEP 6.Pressure cook for 2 whistles and let the pressure release naturally.
  • STEP 7.Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.

Storage and Serving

  • Plain Brinji Rice can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Serve it as a main course with raita or curry of your choice.
