Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.To make the dough, mix all-purpose flour, ghee, and water in a bowl. Knead it into a soft and smooth dough.
  • STEP 2.To make the lentil filling, cook chana dal until soft and then blend it into a smooth paste. Add jaggery, cardamom powder, and ghee to the paste and mix well.
  • STEP 3.Divide the dough and filling into equal-sized balls. Roll out a dough ball, place a filling ball in the center, and seal the edges. Roll it out into a flatbread.
  • STEP 4.Heat a tawa or griddle and cook the bobbatlu on both sides until golden brown. Apply ghee while cooking for a richer flavor.
  • STEP 5.Serve the bobbatlu warm with ghee or milk. They can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2-3 days.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure the lentil filling is smooth and free of lumps for a better texture.
  • Apply ghee while rolling out the dough to prevent sticking.
  • Cook the bobbatlu on medium heat to ensure even cooking and prevent burning.
  • You can adjust the sweetness of the filling by adding more or less jaggery according to your taste.
