  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • pinch A Pinch Of Asafoetida
  • 1/2 Dried Red Chilies
  • 1/4 Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • 0.13 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1/4 cup Whisked Yogurt
  • as needed Fresh Coriander Leaves For Garnish

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Soak the black bhatt lentils in water for 4-5 hours.
  • STEP 2.Pressure cook the soaked lentils until they are soft and cooked through.
  • STEP 3.In a separate pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds, asafoetida, and dried red chilies.
  • STEP 4.Add chopped onions and cook until they turn golden brown.
  • STEP 5.Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
  • STEP 6.Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • STEP 7.Add whisked yogurt and cook for a few minutes until the oil separates.
  • STEP 8.Add the cooked lentils and mix well. Cook for another 5-10 minutes.
  • STEP 9.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.

Cooking Tips

  • Make sure to soak the lentils for a few hours to ensure they cook evenly and become soft.
  • You can adjust the spice level according to your preference by adding more or less red chili powder.
  • For a creamier texture, you can add a tablespoon of fresh cream at the end.
  • If the curry becomes too thick, you can add a little water to adjust the consistency.
