  • 1 Small Bitter Gourds
  • 1/2 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • As required Salt To Taste
  • 1/2 Tomatoes, Finely Chopped

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash the bitter gourd and scrape off the rough skin. Slit the bitter gourd lengthwise and remove the seeds.
  • STEP 2.In a pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • STEP 3.Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a minute.
  • STEP 4.Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft. Remove from heat and let the stuffing cool.
  • STEP 5.Stuff the prepared mixture into the bitter gourd and secure with toothpicks. Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the stuffed bitter gourd until they turn golden brown.
  • STEP 6.Serve hot with roti or rice.

  • Choose small and tender bitter gourds for better taste.
  • To reduce the bitterness, soak the sliced bitter gourd in salted water for 30 minutes before cooking.
  • You can also add roasted peanuts or grated coconut to the stuffing for added flavor and texture.
