Ingredients for Bharwa Parwal Recipe

  • As required Ingredients for stuffing
  • 1/2 cup Roasted Peanuts
  • 1/2 cup Besan
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 2 teaspoon Amchur powder
  • 4 tablespoon Mustard oil
  • 2 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Kasuri methi
  • As required Salt
  • As required Ingredients for Parwal
  • 500 gram Parwal
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • As required Coriander leaves to garnish A few
  • As required Fresh Coconut to garnish A few

Directions: Bharwa Parwal Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Wash and peel 500 gms parwal.

  • STEP 2.Slit and scoop out large seeds

step 4

  • STEP 1.To make the filling, place ½ cup roasted peanuts in the small jar of the grinder and grind to a coarse powder.

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl empty the peanut powder from the grinder jar, add ½ cup besan, ¼ tsp asafoetida,¼ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp cumin powder, salt to taste, ¼ tsp red chilli powder, 2 tsp amchur powder, 2 tsp coriander powder, ½ tsp garam masala powder, 1 tsp sugar, 2 tbsp kasuri methi.

  • STEP 1.Mix the ingredients together and add 2 tbsp mustard oil and a little water to make a crumbly filling mixture. Check for salt and seasoning and adjust accordingly.

  • STEP 1.Stuff the filling into the slit parwals.

  • STEP 1.In a preheated pan, add 2 tbsp mustard oil,½ tsp mustard seeds and allow them to crackle. Then add 1 tsp cumin seeds.

  • STEP 1.Once seeds have crackled, place the stuffed parwals into the pan. If there is any stiffing masala left, put it in the pan with the parwals.

  • STEP 1.Sprinkle a little water over the pan and cover it. Allow the parwals to steam cook on low to medium heat for about 5 to 10 minutes. Intermittently keep turning the parwal so it cooks on all sides and sprinkle water if required.

step 11

  • STEP 1.Once parwal is done, sprinkle chopped coriander leaves and fresh grated coconut.
