  • 3.67 M Sized Green Chilies
  • 0.33 cup Roasted Peanuts
  • 0.17 cup Grated Coconut
  • 0.33 tablespoon Tamarind Pulp
  • 0.33 tablespoon Jaggery
  • 0.17 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 0.08 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 0.08 teaspoon Turmeric Powder

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Slit the green chilies lengthwise, keeping the stems intact. Remove the seeds and veins from the chilies.
  • STEP 2.In a pan, dry roast the peanuts until they turn golden brown. Allow them to cool and then grind them into a coarse powder.
  • STEP 3.In the same pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add curry leaves, asafoetida, and turmeric powder. Saute for a few seconds.
  • STEP 4.Add the grated coconut and saute until it turns golden brown. Then add the peanut powder, tamarind pulp, jaggery, and salt. Mix well.
  • STEP 5.Stuff the prepared filling into the slit green chilies. Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the stuffed chilies until they turn crispy and golden brown.
  • STEP 6.Serve Bharli Mirchi hot with roti or rice.

  • Choose medium-sized green chilies that are not too spicy.
  • Make sure to remove the seeds and veins from the chilies to reduce the spiciness.
  • Adjust the amount of tamarind pulp and jaggery according to your taste preference.
